Louise Shafar Jewellery

Bespoke

I am a fully time-served Goldsmith who completed an apprenticeship with one of the countries leading Designer Goldsmiths. The passion I felt in working with precious metals and stones led me to further my knowledge and I became FGA (Fellow of the Gemmological Association) and DGA (Diamond Gemmological Association). I worked in the Middle East and Far East gaining invaluable experience in sourcing and grading fine gemstones. So if you want something really top quality or unusual, this is my field.

I specialise in working with you the client to design what you want. I listen and you can be as involved as you wish from concept to finished piece. Consultations are free and friendly and a great way to arrive at your unique item. Whether this is an engagement ring or a pendant, earrings or bracelet to mark a special event in your life, this is what i enjoy – hand making one off commissions.

In house we specialise in manufacturing new from old. I have changed many inherited pieces of dated jewellery into stylish, wearable items: never zany more ‘’classic with a twist’’.

My unique hallmark is LS (this has a heart around it) stamped in Edinburgh Assay Office, denoting…designed in Scotland, made in Scotland, Hallmarked in Scotland.

All diamonds used are ethically sourced from suppliers known to be conflict free. Book a no obligation appointment to discuss your bespoke piece.

Commission Examples

My bespoke commissions range from taking treasured but old fashioned pieces and turning them into spectacular heirlooms for the future, to designing completely new jewellery for occasions and life events. One particularly special comission was a bespoke piece for Andrew Mullen the British Paralympian swimmer. Andrew competed at the 2012 Olympics at the age of just 15, and then went onto Rio 2016 winning a silver and two bronze medals! To commemorate this outstanding achievement Andrew commissioned myself, Louise Shafar, to make a piece of jewellery and this is the finished piece. I would like to say how honoured I am to be a small part of Andrews achievements and look forward to watching his future with excitement. You can see the finished pendant below, along with some of my other comissioned pieces.
